Timeline & Funding Streams

In the Planning Phase, $5 million is being invested into each of the 13 regions under California Jobs First to (1) establish a Collaborative of regional planning partners, (2) lead research and community engagement activities, and (3) define Regional Economic Plans. 

Led by our Collaborative, our region’s Plannning Phase kicked off in March 2023 and will run to June 2024. Interested in getting involved?

For the Implementation Phase, the state will invest $268 million across the state. This investment will support projects that align with the Regional Economic Plans and are ready to launch. 

As part of the Planning Phase, our region will identify 3-5 projects to compete at the state level for implementation funding. These projects will be identified through recommendations made by our Subregional Committees. Final decisions and approval will made by our Leadership Council.

The Catalyst Fund will invest up to $14 million into our region. The fund aims to (1) strengthen the long-term collaboration of planning partners and (2) build a pipeline of viable projects that align with California Jobs First’s objectives. The fund will bridge the gap between the planning and implementation phases. 

As the region’s fiscal agent, Valley Vision submitted a funding application on behalf of the region in Fall 2023. Funds granted will be made available by the state in May 2024.

The Economic Development Pilot Fund invested $39 million in ready-to-launch projects across the state that align with California Jobs First’s objectives. These projects were chosen in May 2023 to serve as demonstration projects for the Implementation Phase. 

In our region, Alchemist Public Market was awarded $7.8 million to support their work in Sacramento’s emerging River District.

The state’s Tribal Funding Opportunity is set to invest $25 million statewide to support economic development in tribal communities. The fund will specifically invest in tribal-led planning and implementation projects, which must be completed by September 2026.
